Ask in Chinese. Try the English. Keep the exchange going.

A learner who gets stuck may need more than a translation: they need a way to respond next. This complete demonstration links a request for help, a meaning check and an English attempt within one short task.

Not currently open for download. The new version is still under review. Explore the examples first; the store link is for checking release status.

Public examples need no sign-in. App availability, devices and access depend on the current store and in-app information.

The complete recorded exchange

The lines below preserve the actual demonstration wording. Editorial practice ideas are kept separate, and the role voices are synthetic—not recordings of real child learners.

Learner
小熊,在餐厅想要一杯水,英语怎么说?
Bear
你可以说:Can I have some water, please?
Learner
water 是水的意思吗?
Bear
没错,water 就是水的意思。
Learner
Can I have some water, please?
Bear
Here you are.
Learner
Thank you! That is just what I needed.
Bear
You are very welcome. Enjoy your water and have a wonderful meal.

Check a word, then try the request

The learner asks how to say it, checks the meaning of water, then tries “Can I have some water, please?” Returning to the full expression gives this practice a specific purpose.

After “Here you are,” the learner continues with thanks rather than stopping at the translation. Unclear recognition or a confusing response can still require clarification or another attempt.

A useful next practice step

These are editorial suggestions, not additional lines from the recording: keep a suitable request structure, change to an item you actually need, then practice a response or thanks.

Do not assume every object can be inserted into the sentence unchanged. Quantity, countability and the setting can affect natural wording. Ask for the specific expression when needed.

Move from hearing it to trying again

Hear the whole exchange and check that you understand its request and response before changing one detail. One successful reply is not evidence of a long-term learning outcome.

Supported interactive words can lead to cards; not every interface label is guaranteed to be tappable. Check current store availability, permissions, eligibility and time allowances before use.

Questions before you begin

Does this prove every mixed Chinese-English expression is understood?

Can I download and practice immediately?

The app is not currently open for download. Its new version remains under review; explore the examples first and check the store status later.
